What Is Holistic Psychotherapy?

Holistic psychotherapy is an integrative and transformative approach that honors the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. We recognize that true healing involves addressing not only the thoughts and emotions, but also the physical and spiritual aspects of our being. We utilize talk therapy as a foundation, providing a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. However, we go beyond traditional talk therapy by embracing a whole person approach.

We understand that our bodies carry wisdom and hold the imprints of our past experiences. That's why we also incorporate a ‘bottom-up approach’, inviting you to tune into your somatic experiences, sensations, and bodily responses. By integrating practices such as mindfulness, breathwork, compasionate inquiry (a somatic psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr Gabor Mate) and body-centered techniques, we can access the deeper layers of healing that lie within.

This holistic approach enables us to work with both the cognitive and somatic aspects of your being, fostering a profound sense of integration, balance, and transformation.

Through holistic psychotherapy, you can expect to experience a range of benefits. You'll gain a deeper understanding of yourself, uncover patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you, and develop new tools for self-empowerment and resilience. Our therapeutic approach not only helps you navigate and resolve past traumas and challenges, but also supports you in cultivating a greater sense of self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self-confidence. By embracing the richness of your whole being, you can tap into your innate potential, create meaningful connections, and live a life aligned with your authentic values and purpose.

Therapeutic Yoga

Therapeutic Yoga at The Soul Institute is a transformative practice that combines traditional yogic principles with a personalized and therapeutic approach. We believe that yoga is not a one-size-fits-all practice, but rather a powerful tool for healing, self-discovery, and integration. Our skilled instructors guide you through a journey that encompasses meditation, asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathwork), and mindfulness, all tailored to meet your unique needs and goals.

At the core of therapeutic yoga is the recognition that our bodies and minds are intricately connected. We understand that trauma, stress, and life's challenges can impact our nervous system, leaving us in a state of hyperarousal or hypoarousal. Through personalized yoga practices, we help you tend to your nervous system, gently restoring balance and promoting self-regulation. By incorporating specific poses, breathwork techniques, and mindfulness practices, we create a supportive space for you to reconnect with your body, cultivate inner awareness, and release tension and energy blockages.

In addition to the physical and energetic aspects of yoga, our therapeutic approach integrates elements of yoga philosophy, contemplation, and talk therapy. This means that we provide a space for you to process and explore any emotions, insights, or memories that may arise during your yoga practice. By combining movement, breath, and dialogue, we support you in deepening your self-understanding, expanding your self-compassion, and integrating the transformative power of yoga into your daily life.

Therapeutic yoga offers a multitude of benefits. It can help alleviate physical discomfort, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep patterns, enhance body-mind connection, and promote emotional well-being. It is a practice that fosters self-empowerment, resilience, and a deeper sense of self-care. Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, therapeutic yoga provides a holistic and personalized approach that meets you where you are on your journey, allowing you to harness the transformative potential of yoga to support your overall well-being and growth.

Please note that all of our sessions are run for 1 hour and are held online via zoom.
